Thanksgiving table setting tips from the pros

Setting a festive Thanksgiving table might not be quite as important as what's served on the table, but it's a close second when it comes to setting a special ambience.

Thanksgiving table decor ideas can vary greatly, from classic tables that include colors like red, orange, and gold, to more modern and creative interpretations that mix and match prints, or bring in non-traditional color palettes.

While you ponder which approach to take, here are a few of our expert Thanksgiving table setting tips, pulled from a recent photo shoot we did with Fairfield Lifestyle Magazine.

Thanksgiving table setting tips

1. Layer your piece

Like a good room design, a beautiful table scape is more than one-dimensional. Layer patterned table linens with place mats, patterned plates, and centerpiece decor that ties the color palette together.

2. Choose a starting point

To make sure your table setting looks cohesive, choose a jumping off point to serve as your inspiration. In this case, we pulled colors from the beautiful flower arrangement.

3. Bring in fall motifs

To make your table feel seasonally appropriate, add in fall motifs, like pumpkins, leaves and gourds to your table. If you go for a color-palette that doesn't instantly scream 'Thnaksgiving', this is a great way to tie your setting to the holiday.
